Hospital Research into Vaccine Uptake

What would make you take up a vaccine that has many future health benefits? This is what Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance are trying to find out to help more people take up the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. This vaccine helps protect you from various cancers.

I was asked to illustrate the findings of a recent patient survey. This will inform future campaigning and hopefully reach more people.

Drawings for Merton CIL

Some portraits and updates to the finances for Merton Centre for Independent Living (Merton CIL for short). Charlet Wilson and her wonderful team do so much amazing work for this small grass roots disability charity in South West London.

UCL Research project into Intersectionality and access to Mental Health Services

I had a fascinating insight into the lives of South Asian women, working at the Stratford campus of UCL recently. So many stories of resilience and some very heartbreaking testimonies, as well as a rallying cry to improve services and take action to make change happen. Thanks to Labiba Rashid for asking me to scribe at this event.

UCL - Grand Challenges, Inequalities

I have been working on some of the ‘Grand Challenges’ research projects for University College London (UCL).

More on these here:https://www.ucl.ac.uk/grand-challenges/

This is the hoped for future, a more balanced and equal one, where everyone is able to participate and internally UCL has become more self-aware and inclusive:

This is the current situation - unbalanced:

And this is a bit of background about a previous project and the fruits of interdisciplinary research:

Kinship report

Some work I live scribed and then added to post-event for the charity ‘Kinship’ .https://kinship.org.uk/

A call to the government - to reform the support given to kinship carers, because they’re doing largely unpaid and unsupported work looking after vulnerable children.

Logo Design, Family Hub site, East London

Had a panicked call recently from a client who need a logo design, pronto! So after a rapid exchange of listening and squiggly sketches I came up with a couple of options, and the final image was chosen, (very quickly!) and is now being used on signage out in the eastern fringes of London.

The Anchor Programme - Theory of Change

This is my drawing of a theory of change model, commissioned by the Anchor Programme. This is a funding programme that funds long-term projects up to 10 years, and is funded by the City Bridge Foundation.

The City Bridge Foundation own 5 of the bridges in central London and is London’s biggest independent charity funder.

The ultimate aim of the Anchor Programme is to put the power firmly in the hands of groups of citizens who have lived experience within the communities of London.

Also I’m sharing the roughs that I did, this is a sort of ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at how I work. Often it’s easier to mock something up and talk through these tangible ideas than to use words.

Adult Family Group Conference Poster

Family group conferences are used to come up with a community/family plan, alongside the individual’s wishes. I was commissioned to give an example in the form of a story, so that professionals can explain the process to people in the community.

This was commissioned by Camden council, it was very much a collaborative process, we came up with the story together. Please click on and zoom in, it was printed at a large format to display as a poster.

Mental Health for Young People. UCL research project, London

Some recent work, I was digitally live-scribing at a young people’s Mental Health workshop. Professionals young people and students came together to work on ideas to collaborate across the sectors of health, charities and education in order to make the most of the limited resources available, and leverage what’s possible.

Illustrations for a new book on brain health!

I've been asked to draw gazillions of images for a new book by a GP Dr Clara Russell (who also has Multiple Sclerosis), all about how we can all look after our brains as we get older. Here are a few of them, I'm not sure when the book is going to be published but will update as soon as it is.

And more about Clara here:
