Graphic Recording for Comic Relief

Some recent work from a schools project commissioned by Comic Relief in partnership with GlaxoSmithKlein. The theme was the continuing fight to rid the world of Malaria.

This was held in a great space - the McLaren Thought Leadership Centre, Woking.

I was asked to capture the ideas the students came up with as well as the spirit of the event. They had a lot to take in and navigate as they were given real world challenges and a limited time to come up with solutions.

Live Visuals - Not just a bit on the side!

Recently I was working for a group of 'Impact Investors'. The reason I've given them capital letters is because they're trying to use their investments to improve things either socially, environmentally or economically for the people and places they invest in, whilst still producing a return on their investments.

Truly a 'win win' situation.

What I was also impressed with was the intuitive way they took what I produced and fully integrated it into their conference. The lower image was used as part of a voting system, as a mnemonic, and finally as a way of celebrating the time they had spent together. Bravo to TONIIC !

Graphic Recording for Comic Relief, London

This event for Comic Relief was hosted by the Overseas Development Institute (ww.odi.org) in Southwark, London.

The event centred on the theme of 'diaspora finance' from a research perspective.

The thing that surprised me the most was that it's the poorest that are hit by the biggest transfer fees to send money either home to, or across the borders within, Africa.

Thanks to Georgina Awoonor-Gordon for asking me to get involved.

A Lido Wedding

Last week I celebrated two things: the last days of our indian summer and a friend's wedding.

I visited four lidos (yes, 4!). I have to say this one beats most of them for atmosphere and just being a bit of a lido-legend.

After a "trial period" of 12 years, last weekend Lottie and Ian were married at Brockwell Lido.

Visual Minutes for Thames Valley Police

An evening talking to local community leaders held by Thames Valley Police in Reading.

The speaker who held everyone wrapt was James Pile, a local youth worker. In his words, inviting children into the police cars to try out the police siren played a big part in breaking down police/community barriers at a recent community event.

Sometimes it's the little things!

Drawings for Edinburgh University's MBA

Some more drawings for an online marketing course for Edinburgh Uni, this part is all about the use of unique selling points (USP's) in this case Elvis and Kresse's amazing bags made from London Fire Brigade's recycled fire hoses.

Also the clever use of repackaging and moving with the times that Heinz has continued to do, in order to keep selling ketchup:

Although I'm more into mustard now, after drawing all those bottles :)

Online Marketing Course and the EU referendum results

It's been a strange past few days.

I've been doing some drawings for an online marketing course for Edinburgh University's MBA, and was struck by certain similarities.

Graphic Recording, London

This week I've been working on a two day conference in Canary Wharf, London: "RETHINK! H.R. and Technology Minds 2016".

Lots of presentations, workshops, and some heated discussion - and that was before anyone even mentioned the referendum!

Graphic Recording, Catch 22: Realising Ambition, Birmingham

Last month I was up in Birmingham working on an event hosted by Catch 22's programme 'Realising Ambition'.

http://www.catch-22.org.uk/programmes-services/realising-ambition/

The two interactive workshops highlighted the importance of recording evidence whilst delivering services, as well as the funding implications.

Two charities 'The Anne Frank Trust' and 'Working With Men' told their story, and then in each workshop there was a discussion on how to use evidence effectively.

Thanks to Julius Hinks for asking me to cover this event.

Visuals for ITV, Southbank London

Recently I was at the advertising agency MEC, working with a group of ITV and MEC staff. We were taking part in a collaboration to pitch against peer teams, the event was called "Brainboxing".

6 teams had 90 minutes to create a pitch and then the (verbal) boxing commenced:

Wellcome Trust, Graphic Recording, London

The Wellcome Trust has such an inspiring programme of events and exhibitions, and so I was thrilled to be working for them at their 'Engaging Science' conference (for the second time!) last month.

Here we are at the Start...

They had some great speakers, including Zoe Laughlin from 'The Institute of Making' who kicked off the day:

In the afternoon I was joined by Fede Ciotti and Beatrice Baumgartner-Cohen, and we'd covered the central breakout space by drinks time.

Many thanks to Lois Logan for getting us involved, good luck with your big move!
