Graphic Facilitation for The Railway Children - Launch 8th December at Aviva, London

Over the summer I worked for The Railway Children, recording a research project into the different journeys that young people make when they run away.

The launch of the research project took place today on the top floor of Aviva insurance, a major supporter of the charity. Newsreader Jon Snow was also there and he gave a short presentation as Chair of New Horizon Youth Centre who worked in partnership with The Railway Children on this project.

It all felt quite exciting, and wow, what a view!

The two main journeys were circular and linear. More information can be found here:

My images were used throughout to illustrate the research project publication, here is a sample:

Thanks to Jane Thompson for hiring me and the young people from New Horizons Youth Centre for their hard work and commitment.

Permanent Visual Minutes

This last week I've really had a lot of fun, working in a new 'innovation space' within a company, to inspire and encourage employees to think creatively and to enable problem solving.

The room has been launched as a space to cross pollinate ideas, with the aim of making the business more agile.

I recorded people's thoughts and ideas, and then was asked to draw them on the blinds of the innovation room, as a lasting memory of the launch.

British Library Schools Project

Had an enjoyable time working for the British Library today, listening and recording the thoughts and ideas of the young people present.

The discussion centred around web privacy and access. It was part of the Southbank Centre's 'Web We Want' festival that will continue into 2015.

Next year is also the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.

Corporate Graphic Facilitation

This was for a company undergoing a huge shift in company culture, the day was also about having fun through learning-games, experimenting, opening up conversation and encouraging dialogue.

In their words: "Let's over-communicate together!"

..some learning through game-playing.

Graphic Facilitation - Consulting Doctors

Last week I was up in Birmingham working with Creative Connection for a pharmaceutical company at a large conference for GP's at the NEC. We were asking about their working lives and what they want for the future.

Graphic Recording and Visual Minutes, Chapter Arts, Cardiff

This was for a research paper for the Estee Lauder breast cancer foundation, into the way women communicate their diagnosis to friends family and their wider circle. Amazing inspiring women, very worthwhile.

Thanks to Storyworks UK for hiring me, and Eleanor Beer for the referral.

Graphic Recording in London and beyond

It was a very busy September working for different charities and corporate events, scribing, storytelling and giving a voice to those at the events.

Here are some examples of recent work:

Graphic Recorder in London with Catch 22 and the Princess Royal

Yesterday I was on the 6th floor of HSBC's London headquarters in Canary Wharf helping to celebrate apprentices and employers who support apprenticeships with Catch 22: http://www.catch-22.org.uk/

The Princess Royal was curious about what I was up to and came over to have a look.

Graphic Recording in London

On Wednesday I was working for Creative Connection collecting people's thoughts at the QE2 conference centre in Westminster. The conference was focussed on a new IT system called the Public Sector Network (PSN).

The question we were asked to put up was "Why Are You Here?" And it has to be said that some people did struggle to find a response! But here are some of them:

Action Camp 2014 - Visual Recording

Last weekend I was up in Stafford working for http://morethanminutes.co.uk/

I worked alongside Jenny Capon and Rowan Watts, on a 4 day residential weekend of workshops and meetings.

There was loads of passion, enthusiasm and action from everyone involved in the run-up to their pitch to MP Nick Hurd and the Big Lottery Fund on Monday morning, as well as time for music, dance and..face painting !

The posters that we created were put up around the site for the 450 visitors to Action Camp to see what was going on in all the workshops, talks and fun 'happenings' over the four days.

Family Tree

I was asked to do a private commission - so here is Tom's family, up a tree having an imaginary picnic.

I say imaginary as most parents would be slightly nervous about hanging out in a tree with their children!

Kidneys

This is for a pitch for an animation about kidney failure in children.
The client wants something uplifting so I hope this hits the right note.

Dad tries to explain

At the hospital everything was turning kidney-shaped

Happy kidneys happy kid
